Batter up! The summer baseball season is officially underway. There is nothing quite like heading to the ballpark, grabbing some stadium snacks, and cheering on the home team.

Four families (the Andersons, the Bakers, the Connecticuts, and the Davises) went to a summer baseball game, but the ticket booth accidentally messed up their seating assignments! They are all sitting in a 2 x 2 grid in the VIP section, but nobody knows who is in which exact spot.

Can you use your deductive reasoning skills to solve the mystery and get everyone into their correct seats before the first pitch? Grab a piece of paper, sketch out a quick 2×2 grid, and let’s play ball!



The Layout Grid

The Grid Setup:

Imagine a 2 x 2 coordinate grid.

  • Rows 1 and 2 (Row 1 is closer to the field; Row 2 is behind Row 1).
  • Columns A and B (Column A is on the left, closer to the third-base line; Column B is on the right).

The Clues:

  1. The family who brought the giant foam finger is sitting directly behind the Baker family.
  2. The Anderson family is sitting further to the right (Column B) than the family who forgot their tickets.
  3. The Davis family is sitting closer to the field (Row 1) than the Anderson family.
  4. The Connecticut family is sitting directly to the left of the family wearing team jerseys.

  • Seat 2A: Baker family
  • Seat 2B: Anderson family
  • Bonus Details: The Andersons brought the foam finger (sitting behind the Bakers in 2A). The Bakers forgot their tickets (to the left of the Andersons). The Davises are wearing the jerseys (to the right of the Connecticuts).
